Baltimore Tech Night 2012

I have two years under my belt attending this eventLexington Market was the venue.  The gb.tc has done it again and created a truly memorable experience for me.  The gb.tc receives a lot of cool points for getting free Wi-Fi installed at the market.  Go to the market and check it out.  Here is a recap of what I enjoyed and learned that night.

My favorite part of the night

It was nice to see Mayor Rawlings-Blake participate in the event.  I really enjoyed her talk.  It shows she understands the importance of technology in Baltimore.  To me this is huge.  In Baltimore, we have support from the top.

Tech I’m buzzing about

CrowdStitch will always have a special place in my heart.  The guys went from idea to MVP in an extremely short time.  Check out their product.  They’re in the event planning space.

Mechation Studio created a product that solves a problem I ran into many times.  You go IKEA and purchase an item.  You study the directions and within 10 minutes you are winging the assembly.  Their approach is a lot less painful:

Mechation Studio creates smarter assembly instructions for your products.  We use step-by-step digital animations that give your customers confidence and understanding.

Staple Tech of the night

BeerGivr had the most important job of any Tech company that attended this event.  Their job was to keep the beer and wine flowing.  Instead of killing trees by printing paper tickets, you could use digital tickets made available through their app.  Did I ever mention how much I really like this app?

Will I attend next year?

Of course I will.  This event had a great mix of individuals that believe technology can change the city positively.  Tech night is a celebration of tech and showcase of what’s happening in the city from a tech perspective.  That is much need and appreciated by me.

Update: Believe Wireless Broadband is the provider of free Wi-Fi at Lexington market.  BWB, you are providing a great service, thank you.
