Does Android have a Malware problem?
I have heard that a couple of times. I found those rumors not to be true. I decided to write about this after coming across a thread on reddit located here. Below is a comment on the topic that I totally agree on.

I install a lot of random apps, I always look at the permissions, and if it looks sketch I don’t install it. I’ve never run into an app on any malware list, but I’m sure it happens to some. Never saw it as an issue though. Know your phone, and look twice at permissions. If something looks suspicious, chances are it is.
The key is to be informed and check permissions before you install. Yes, there are tons of apps that do malicious things on your device if you install them. Be smart about what you install. The Android marketplace can and will have those apps. When you go to the grocery store do you throw items in the cart without checking them out? No… don’t do it on the marketplace either.
